Portfolio Management



Wesley, with more than ten years of finance experience, is accountable for helping enhance Acumen’s investment process and is dedicated to researching client portfolios and their underlying holdings. He is a member of the Portfolio Management Committee where he collaborates with Acumen’s Executive team in the formulation and implementation of both discretionary portfolio changes and portfolio recommendations for clients and prospects. Wesley conducts detailed portfolio analysis by studying economic trends affecting the performance of various types of investments, evaluates historical correlations, prepares reports and recommends monetary instruments. He also performs special analyses in response to market events, client concentrations and client research requests, and communicates investment ideas and strategy with clients and through Acumen’s various communication channels.

Wesley earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Finance from Auburn University. He served as Vice President on the Equity Analyst team of Regions Investment Management (RIM) for six years covering the Energy, Materials, Financials, Utilities, and Telecom sectors for all equity strategies, as well as, managed the Socially Responsible Equity model. Wesley is a three-year veteran Equity Trader on the RIM trading desk. Prior to this responsibility, he managed due diligence on hedge funds as part of the Alternatives Strategies Group for RIM. He is a designated Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®). Wesley passed three levels of exams, each requiring a recommended 300+ hours of study, minimum of four years of work experience, and multiple letters of recommendation. Exams cover Quantitative Methods, Economics, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Portfolio Management, Wealth Planning, and Ethics.

Wesley is a two-time NCAA and SEC Champion with the Auburn Varsity Swimming team in 2004 and 2005 where he visited the White House and met the President. He was on the Auburn Club Water Polo team and has been a member of Mensa since 1992. Wesley is a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships including the Auburn Academic Scholarship, Auburn Varsity Swimming Scholarship, Automatic Data Processing Merit Scholarship, Centennial High School Scholar Athlete Scholarship, four-time winner of the Auburn University Top Tiger Award, and Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, 2004-2005. Wesley enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauren, and two young daughters as well as serving on the Birmingham YMCA Advisory Board.
