What do you enjoy about working at Acumen?
I enjoy the team atmosphere that is fostered at Acumen. Everyone is valued and has a voice to contribute that in turn better serves our clients. Clients benefit when each of the different sectors of teams capitalize on their specialty service to the client, providing an outstanding customer experience, and in turn giving each one of us the satisfaction of knowing we are making a difference in the lives of those we have been blessed to serve.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests that might surprise your colleagues?
Outside of work and the normal duties of being a husband and a dad, I enjoy trying to meticulously maintain a green lawn and ascribe to have the unofficial best yard in the neighborhood. Also, it is commonly known throughout our neighborhood that our house is the Clark Griswald house that puts their lights up on October 31st. Christmas waits for no man.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received and why?
My wife gave me the best piece of advice years ago. She told me to “always choose to believe the best about people and speak to the honorable qualities in them.” This piece of advice has helped me to seek to understand someone’s perspective and learn their story. A mark of a true leader is one who sees another’s gifts and character and develops them despite their weaknesses and fears. Leaders look for who you are and develop you into who you will be. It all starts with believing and investing in another.
