Job Responsibilities
The Client Portfolio Manager and Senior Investment Analyst is a hybrid, client-facing position integrating advanced investment research with direct portfolio management responsibilities. This role acts as both a strategic advisor and analytical expert: designing, implementing, and communicating customized investment strategies aligned with each client’s unique goals.
Combining rigorous research, sophisticated modeling, and hands-on portfolio construction, this position serves as a trusted steward of client assets while contributing meaningfully to Acumen’s Investment Committee and firm-wide investment strategy. The role requires deep analytical capability, strong interpersonal communication, and the ability to translate complex market insights into clear, actionable guidance for clients and internal teams. Responsibilities
Client-Facing Portfolio Management
- Assess client goals, risk tolerance, and constraints to design tailored investment portfolios.
- Communicate proactively with clients regarding markets, portfolio performance, and evolving economic trends.
- Effectively and succinctly convey to clients our investment philosophy and investment process.
- Educate clients on investment opportunities, setting expectations and guiding them toward long-term objectives.
- Participate in and lead prospect meetings, onboarding new clients with a consultative, research-driven approach.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in client discussions, translating complex data and research into accessible insights.
Investment Research and Analysis
- Conduct in-depth research across equities, fixed income, alternatives, currencies, commodities, and global macro factors.
- Build predictive financial models and conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
- Develop buy/sell/hold recommendations and present strategic viewpoints to the Investment Committee and client-facing teams.
- Perform due diligence on third-party managers and investment vehicles, providing actionable recommendations for client portfolios.
- Continuously evaluate market conditions, corporate financials, economic indicators, and geopolitical developments to inform portfolio decisions.
Portfolio Strategy and Execution
- Oversee precise portfolio construction, rebalancing, and implementation consistent with client objectives and Acumen’s investment philosophy.
- Develop and implement sophisticated investment processes, including asset selection and tactical adjustments.
- Conduct investment research and provide investment analysis on individual stocks as well as third-party managed funds/ETFs.
- Execute risk management strategies, anticipating market shifts and adjusting allocations proactively.
- Monitor regulatory, economic, and market changes that may affect investment strategy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Wealth Advisors to ensure optimal portfolio design and client experience.
- Collaborate with external analysts, fund managers, and traders to validate perspectives and gather insights.
- Contribute meaningfully to Acumen’s Investment Committee and the ongoing refinement of the Acumen Investment Model.
- Provide support to other client-facing advisors, ensuring timely fulfillment of client requests and firm-wide consistency in communication.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, mathematics, data science, risk management, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of investment-related experience, ideally with client-facing exposure.
- Strong knowledge of portfolio management and rebalancing systems.
- Experience with individual stock analysis and third-party manager due diligence is a plus.
- Ability to build and communicate sophisticated financial models and research.
- Successful completion of background/credit check.
- Series 65 or qualifying exam required.
Preferred Education/Certifications
- CFA® designation or active progress toward the charter.
- MBA or graduate degree in a financial discipline.
