Prior to joining Acumen Wealth Advisors, Kent spent more than four years at Vanguard, where he supported financial advisors, portfolio managers, and institutional teams nationwide. His work centered on quantitative analysis and investment strategy, including portfolio diagnostics, risk and performance analysis, and comparative product evaluation across asset classes. He regularly built and delivered market and economic presentations and partnered with advisors and institutional teams at firms such as J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, and Truist to evaluate portfolio construction decisions and client implementation considerations.

Earlier in his tenure at Vanguard, Kent managed large advisor books of business, applying analytical and planning insights to support RIA and broker-dealer partners. He also helped clients navigate complex accounts and life transitions, including those involving trusts, estates, and charitable accounts.

Before entering wealth management, Kent worked in small business consulting, where he focused on financial analysis, budgeting, performance metrics, and growth strategy while supporting client relationships and corporate training initiatives. This experience sharpened his analytical approach to evaluating businesses, strengthened his ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly, and reinforced a collaborative, long-term perspective when partnering with business owners on strategic decision-making.

Kent earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation and the Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.  Kent previously volunteered as a VITA tax preparer, assisting individuals and families with income tax preparation.

Kent is guided by values of integrity, preparation, and long-term thinking. He believes effective wealth management is built on trust, clarity, and disciplined decision-making, and he is motivated by helping clients gain confidence in their financial plans. These principles closely align with Acumen’s collaborative culture and commitment to acting in clients’ best interests.

Outside of work, Kent enjoys an active, outdoor-oriented lifestyle. He is an avid rock climber and enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, and cooking. A former Division I track and cross-country athlete, Kent spends much of his free time outdoors with his dog, Wanda, pursuits that reinforce balance, resilience, and perspective.

Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation consists of three levels of exams, each requiring a recommended 300+ hours of study, minimum of four years of work experience, and multiple letters of recommendation.  Exams cover Quantitative Methods, Economics, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Portfolio Management, Wealth Planning, and Ethics.
