Michael Albertson

Investment Analyst and Associate Trader

Michael Albertson is an Investment Analyst and Associate Trader at Acumen Wealth Advisors. He plays an integral role on the investment team by supporting the execution and implementation of investment strategies while conducting research to help guide long-term investment decisions. Michael serves on Acumen’s Portfolio Management Committee, where he helps oversee strategic and tactical asset allocation and portfolio investment decisions. He also works closely with the senior investment team to ensure client portfolios are traded, implemented, and maintained accurately and efficiently, while analyzing funds and investment vehicles to deliver disciplined, data-driven recommendations.

Michael earned both his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and his Master of Science in Finance from the University of Kentucky.  Between degrees, Michael worked as a financial analyst in the real estate and hospitality sector in Savannah, Georgia, where he built dynamic financial and valuation models and applied data-driven forecasting to inform timing, pricing, and capital deployment decisions.  While completing his master’s program, Michael collaborated with classmates to manage a $5.5 million equity portfolio, applying valuation, risk management, and portfolio construction principles to monitor performance and make thoughtful, strategic rebalancing decisions.

Before relocating from Wilmore, Kentucky, and joining Acumen, Michael began his CFA® Program journey, successfully passing Level I and building on his strong foundation in investment analysis and portfolio management.  He is currently a Level II candidate, driven by a strong interest in helping others understand the value of disciplined, analytically driven investing.  Outside of work, Michael enjoys traveling the world, hiking in beautiful mountains, and reading classical literature.
